Just like the series!
In its forty years of existence, the Magic Roundabout, the emblematic series that brings a smile to the faces of all the family, has not aged one bit. The new adventures of Dougal use computer graphics and have won over a new generation of viewers. Game Life has transposed this universe for video games to bring all the charm of the series to life. Faithful to the characters and spirit of the series, Game Life has produced an adaptation that recaptures the pleasures of the TV program. All the atmosphere and humour of the cartoon is there. The graphics have been perfectly mastered, in 3D for Wii and PC, and in 2D on DS. The game won’t fail to delight the whole family, and in particular the very young.

Boooiiiing!
In designing the Magic Roundabout game, Game Life left nothing out. All the official music and voices of the characters you know and love from the cartoon are there in the game.

The action takes place in the enchanted village of the Magic Roundabout, where a huge party has been organised to celebrate The Day of Special Friendship. At the start of the adventure, Zebedee entices Dougal with a prize if he helps his friends to get the party ready. You play Dougal as he scouts around the village sniffing out ways to try and help his friends. Dougal has to help everyone as much as they need to win the prize.

With its four difficulty levels, the whole family can enjoy the 7 mini-games included in the Nintendo Wii version of the game, like the village treasure hunt. A simple interface and games adapted for the very young renders the Magic Roundabout is accessible to all. Using the Wii Remote and its innovative controls, Dougal can shake jars or move things about in a perfectly intuitive way.

Fans of the Nintendo DS will have a chance to test all the console’s functions in the 16 mini-games and bonus missions. Players can blow into the microphone to set the paper plane flying, or draw flowers with the stylus to illustrate invitations. Indeed all the Nintendo DS features are used to help the player experience some magic moments.

Just where does the Magic Roundabout come from?
The famous animation series for children was created by Serge Danot in 1963. With the collaboration of Ivor Wood he created the Magic Roundabout pilot. French TV programmers were won over by the idea and ordered 13 episodes.

Broadcast for the first time 5 October 1964, the Magic Roundabout met with huge success. With more than 500 episodes, each five minutes long, the Magic Roundabout was broadcast in more than 60 countries. A cinema adaptation of the program was created in 1970 under the title, “Dougal and the Blue Cat”. In 2005, a second version of the series appeared, with the voices of Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams in the English version and Vanessa Paradis, Henri Salvador and Dany Boon in the French version. The series was a huge hit in Britain and France where Dougal (or “De Gaulle”!) is known as Pollux, and Dylan is called Flappy.

A new series has recently been developed by the animation studios, Action Synthèse and Films Action, who created 52 eleven-minute episodes. The new series, deliciously and entirely created in 3D, brings new life to Dougal and his friends while retaining the humour of the original story.

Since April 2008, the mainstream commercial TV channel, M6, has been broadcasting the Magic Roundabout in France, bringing French children the funny and poetic world of the colourful, enchanted garden. A second series of the new Magic Roundabout is currently being prepared for French and international viewers.
