1988 Nintendo Trade Appreciation Night Mike Tyson Punch Out Glove Signed

Mike Tyson’s Punch-out!! is a title that resonates with many retro gamers. Those of us who were lucky to grow up during this magical time experienced so many great games on the Nintendo Entertainment System, but none were like Punch-Out!!. Which brings me to this amazing Mike Tyson Punch Out Glove Signed from 1988 Nintendo’s Trade Appreciate Night which is the first time it’s been offered to the public. Here’s the link to the glove.

History

The only other time I’ve seen this glove was at the NintendoAge forums here, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same person selling this glove. The owner in the forum says he believes that this signed glove is the-holy-grail for Punch-Out!! and that it’s rarer than the Punch Out Gold Cart. I have to agree as there’s a certain way of thinking about this.

Firstly, “gold cart” will always be perceived as a rare video game collectible. We have the Nintendo World Championships Gold Cart, The Duck Tales Remastered Gold cart that goes for $5000+ (to the right buyer), and now the Famicom Punch Out gold cart. The thing with the Punch Out gold cart is that there’s not just “one” of them. I’ve seen many pop up on auction before.

However…

The Mike Tyson Punch Out Glove Signed from the Nintendo Trade Appreciate Night was given to a few members of the press.

Sellers Description

It’s incredibly refreshing to know that the seller of this Mike Tyson Punch Out Glove Signed wrote a detailed description of the glove. There’s really no information anywhere else on the net with exception to one person on the NintendoAge forums posting that he owns one.

Here’s what the seller says:

Well, Nintendo collectors here is one of the rarest collectibles you will ever find. For sale is an authentic Mike Tyson Punch Out plaque that was given out to a select few members of press and Nintendo executives in 1988 after the initial success of Mike Tyson’s Punch Out for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

The event was called the Nintendo Trade Appreciation Night and was a one night limited engagement by invite only. Mike Tyson was present and these autographed gloves on plaques were given out then. This is a museum worthy piece. This plaque has been stored away from light for years and the autograph (signed in black Sharpy) is strong. The plaque and glove themselves have no damage to note, with only minor scuffs from storage. The Plaque is made of a shiny black resin/plastic and can be hung by the original plastic tab on rear. There is no certificate of authenticity as there never was one.

Sold as pictured/described so please refer to the many high definition photos provided. Ask any and all questions. This is a rare opportunity to own a nearly one of a kind piece that no one else has. Shipping is Free within USA. Will be shipped fast, safe, insured, and with tracking. Canadian and International buyers will have to use Ebay International program. Here is your chance. Once it’s gone I’m sure that collector won’t let go of this easily. This is more limited and rarer than Nintendo Stadium Events, Star Fox Weekend, or Donkey Kong Country. Not to mention this is memorabilia from a game WAY better than stadium events!

what’s really cool about this piece is that Mike Tyson was present at the awards show. This is honestly a relic in the video game world and to have a 1980’s + Mike Tyson + NES Game + Boxing Glove item all in one is out of this world.

There was once a Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! store standee that sold for over $1000 so the price for this signed glove isn’t too far off. The price is obviously subjective and can sell to the right collector.

Mike Tyson Videos

One of the best videos in recent times is when Mike Tyson made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, and Jimmy Fallon being the cool Late Night host as always thought it would be a great idea for Mike Tyson to play against himself on his show. Here’s the clip of that segment. Enjoy!
