I’ve grown up to appreciate art. Doesn’t necessarily have to be video game art, but anything that’s different and interesting always catches my eye now. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be an expensive habit, however, video game art is the most intriguing simply because we can all relate to it, we sort of know what the painter is trying to say. The art also adds character to your room and makes your room more ‘alive'(same effect when putting up posters). But remember……art never comes cheap….
….like this drawing for example. When I look at it I have that 80’s feeling. The arcade machines next to the fan, the big Coke sign with the Janitor looking onwards, the kid’s and adult enjoying themselves; it’s really an interesting piece.
Now this piece was drawn by “William Papas“. In case you didn’t know, his paintings has won international acclaim and is held in many private and corporate collections around the world.
This is what wiki says; “Cartoons by Papas were among those chosen for the 1970 National Portrait Gallery exhibition “Drawn and Quartered: the world of the British newspaper cartoon 1720-1970”, and examples of his work are held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Centre for the Study of Cartoons and Caricature at the University of Kent, the Vorres Museum (Athens) and the Old City Museum (Jerusalem).Alan Coren, former editor of Punch, described him as “a highly distinguished original artist, whose work, I firmly believe, is not only of significance of its time, but will make an important contribution to the journalistic history of that time”.
This auction is for William Papas “Video Games” limited edition drawing, which is signed by the artist. The drawing is limited to 100. I really like this drawing, and maybe some of you might like it too?
Space Invaders canvas paintings 12 pc set BLACKLIGHT
This is really impressive. Imagine having this behind your couch in your game room with the lights off! Crazy! I absolutely love this thing because it capture’s old school gaming perfectly. The colors is what really makes this piece alive.
“You are bidding on an authentic 12 piece Space Invaders fan art set. Each Space Invader is painted on its own 8×10″ canvas, as well as painted with blacklight reactive acrylic paints, so it glows in the blacklight as well. Each painting is painted solid with acrylic paints, then painted with a black lined stained glass texturing (oil paint) to give it an authentic, original feel. Since the acrylic paints are a flat color, the shiny black oil paint give it a great contrast to it. These are a one of a kind set and have not been reproduced in any way, this is the first set I’ve painted. Since each Space Invader has its own canvas, it can be arranged anyway that you’d like it on your wall. This set also comes with three mini canvases painted with glow-in-the-dark and blacklight reactive paints to simulate the bullets coming out of your ship.”
Anyone who’s into retro gaming definitely needs this thing! Not a bad price but the seller also has a “best-offer” option.
