Aeris Music Box Sells for $12,400

You are probably wondering whats up with the title. Well, according to the seller the music box was sold to a private collector. In case I am moving too fast for you, we featured a Final Fantasy 7 Aeris Music Box last week. I will always be fascinated with this item not only by it’s value but how beautiful the thing is.

Anyhow, I was keeping an eye on this auction and then a couple of days ago the seller took down the listing. At this point it could mean two things: 1). He had seller remorse and decided not to part with this rare gem, or , 2). He sold it privately. Well after sending him an email asking him what’s up, he told me that someone offered a large amount for the music box. In a follow up email he said the price was £8,000 which is roughly $12,400 US according to xe.com. So, what are my thoughts about this? Well I don’t know what to think. It’s not really anyone’s business how much this sold for(although it’s good for archive purposes), but I don’t know if this is worth that much. I mean to the right collector it could be since this piece is obessed by many, but then that would mean that this music box is just as rare as the NWC Grey AND Gold cart? I mean both carts are “estimated” to be 10k+.

So in the end no one will ever know how much this music box really sold for. But last time I assumed someone had a bogus story, it ended up that they really did sell the Stadium Events sealed for 22k! What are your thoughts on this?

  1. Do you really think he sold it for that much? Like I told you before I am pretty sure he took it down as “seller’s remorse” and will not sell it and decided to say he sold it for that high price. I would have believed it at $5500 AT MOST but $12000? Nope doesn’t pan out. I’m sure if I ask him to elaborate he’ll reply with some awesome story how there was a private bidding war etc… I don’t think it sold to anyone except himself.

  2. I thought it was a lot too. I don’t know why someone would pay that much for it. Someone has one listed up for sale at myfigurecollection.net for $7,777. It’s about a year old, but he probably still has it.

Has the buyer surfaced online yet? You could probably track him down if any new pictures or videos on the music box pop up online.

  3. It’s a beautiful thing but you’d have to be very rich to buy one at that price and disregard the marketprice which is not more then $3500 but hey I could be wrong, maybe demand has pushed up the price in the last few years. The onyl way we can know is if it runs on a regular auction. Also I think it has the potential to sell up to $5000 if it was fixed.

At least we know the serial number, it’s in the sixtys(wonder if Riku wrote it down???) so if it ever surfaces again we know it’s origin.
