Who Are The Dallas Empire?
The Dallas Empire are a Call of Duty esports team competing in the Call of Duty League. The team represents the city of Dallas and is owned by Envy Gaming, Inc.
Envy Gaming Inc. Building An Empire
In Early October 2019, Envy Gaming Inc. introduced Dallas as one of the twelve teams to participate in the new Call of Duty League. Later in the month, the team would reveal their name as the Dallas Empire. Envy Gaming is no stranger to Call of Duty esports, being one of the oldest teams to participate in older leagues like the MLG and CWL Leagues. The team’s owner, Mike Rufail, was born and raised in Texas, and came up with the name “Empire” from the Texas State Song which states “O Empire wide and glorious, you stand supremely blest.”

Envy Gaming has had much success in Call of Duty esports such as having the most World Championship Grand Finals appearances than any other CoD esports team. The team’s colors are Gold and Black, with a secondary color of standard blue. The team’s owner, Mike Rufail, recently announced that Envy Gaming is building out a new headquarters that would house the training center and corporate headquarters for the entire esports organization, which shows his commitment of not only building a strong CoD team but housing that growth through all of the Envy Gaming teams (Dallas Fuel and Team Envy).

The Dallas Empire has signed two of the most experienced Call of Duty esports players in the history of CoD competitive. Ian Porter (Crimsix / C6) is the winningest player in Call of Duty esports being a COD Champion 33 times. Crimsix has also been part of one of the most dominant Call of Duty esports organizations, OpTic Gaming. However, his final days with OpTic went south as there has been some backdoor politics that lead Crimsix to look for another esport organization. Crimsix is joined by James Eubanks (Clayster) who is a veteran in the league and comes off of back-to-back titles with the CWL Finals and CWL Championship. Clayster played with eUnited last and was signed by Dallas Empire since eUnited wasn’t going to participate in the new CDL.
The two veterans have played together back in 2013 when they were under the compLexity Gaming banner. Crimsix and Clayster are joined by the young guns with Huke (former Splyce player), Shotzzy (former Splyce Black player), and Illey (former eUnited Cadets); all which had had impressive showings in the past season. The Dallas Empire has an interesting roster and even their substitute player, Tommey (former Team Reciprocity player), is solid enough to play as a starter. The D.E is definitely a team to look out for and the returning duo of Crimsix and Clayster should be an exciting sight for older CoD competitive fans.
