The Minnesota Rokkr are a Call of Duty esports team competing in the Call of Duty League. The team represents the state of Minnesota and is owned by WISE Ventures.

Minnesota Rokkr And WISE Ventures

On Oct.29, 2019, WISE Ventures introduced the Minnesota Rokkr (Røkkr) to the Call of Duty World. The Minnesota Rokkr will be one of the 12 teams to participate in the new Call of Duty League. In 2018, Mark & Zygi Wilf, owners of the Minnesota Vikings launched WISE Ventures (Wilf Innovative Sports & Entertainment), an investment fund based in Manhattan. The team at Wise Ventures is focused on early and growth-stage investment opportunities, and esports is a big part of that.

“Esports and competitive gaming has clearly emerged as a major force in the sports and entertainment industry. We have explored various opportunities in esports over the past few years, and we believe the new Call of Duty esports league is well positioned for long term success.” – Jonathan Wilf

On July 1, 2019, Wise Ventures and Activision Blizzard reached an agreement to field a Minnesota-based team in the Call of Duty League.

Minnesota Rokkr Roster

The new 5-man Minnesota Rokkr (MR) roster consists of professional Call of duty players from the old Call of Duty World League:

  • Justin Fargo Palmer – Silly
  • Alex Carpenter – ALEXX
  • Adam Garcia  – ASSAULT
  • Obaid Asim – ASIM
  • Adam Brown – GODRX
  • Kaden Stockdale (Substitute) – EXCEED
  • Devin Robinson (Substitute) – TTINYY

The Minnesota Rokkr is a solid team with both veterans and young guns. Leading the team is Justin “SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer, an AR slayer who has quite the resume. Silly is a 2018 Call of Duty World Champion, and has played on many great CoD esports teams including eUnited, Evil Geniuses, and Team Envy. Silly has a decent 2019 season playing with Team Envy, and he’s shown some amazing highlight reels, including the time he got a Gunship in a CWL Pro League match. Although Silly didn’t win any titles with Team Envy throughout the 2019 CWL season, the team did have some strong pushes, and at times were raising eyebrows during some of the later tournaments. However, Team Envy wasn’t able to break through and their best finish was 4th place at CWL London. Despite that, Silly still has one of the most extensive resumes in the league, and he was a great signed for the new team. Complimenting Silly is another veteran by the name of Adam “GodRx” Brown. Godrx played with Enigma6 Group in the 2019 CWL season and had a decent finishing at the Call of Duty World League Championship, placing 4th overall. GodRx has some decent titles under his belt and with his experience, he’ll be able to help Silly lead the way.

Adam “Assault” Garcia can be added to the group of veterans on the team as he started playing CoD competitive exclusively in 2015 with his team, “Below Zero”. Assault also played side-by-side with Silly with Evil Geniuses when they won the Call of Duty World League Championship in 2018 playing World War II. Additionally, Assault was awarded the MVP of the final and is an asset to the new Minnesota Rokkr. assault will already be familiar with Silly’s gameplay, making the adjustment to the new team smoother. Joining the experienced squad is Alex “Alexx” Carpenter (ex Team Reciprocity member) and Obaid “Asim” Asim (ex FaZe Clan member). Both players were well respected on their team and have contributed a lot despite having a few years of playing time in the league. Alexx had a decent showing with Reciprocity, finishing 4th during the CWL Playoffs when he was playing with Wuskin and Dylan. On the other hand, Asim worked his way up from FC Black (FaZe Clan Black) and officially joined FaZe Clan’s starting line-up when the team took the spot of Rise Nation mid-way in the CWL 2019 season. Both players will add some spice to the current line-up, making the Minnesota Rokkr one of the stronger teams in the league.

The team also has two solid substitutes, Kaden “Exceed” Stockdale and Devin “Ttinyy” Robinson.

The MR will definitely be a team to keep your eyes on during the regular Call of Duty League season.
