MDL Disneyland® Paris Major Format and Schedule

OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 is now over, and fans can look forward to the next competition which is the MDL Disneyland® Paris Major. The tournament starts on May 5th in Paris, France. Sixteen teams from all over the world will be competing for $1,000,000 and vital DSP points. With groups and schedule announced, let’s take a closer look at the event.

MDL Disneyland® Paris Major Format and schedule

The group stage will be held on May 4th and May 5th. There will be four groups holding four teams. Two of the top teams from each group will advance to the upper bracket of playoffs, and tje bottom two teams will advance to the lower bracket. All games have the BO3 format. Playoffs will be held on May 6th to May 12th. Sixteen participants play in double-elimination format. Eight teams for upper bracket and eight teams for the lower bracket. Playoffs format is BO3, the only exception is the Grand Final and Lower Bracket Round 1. Grand Final will be BO5. Lower Bracket Round 1 is BO1.

Group A

Group A includes the following:

  • Virtus. Pro
  • TEAM TEAM
  • Keen Gaming
  • Team Liquid

With three tier 1 rosters involved, we are definitely going to witness action-packed matches. Virtus. Pro is the top 3 team in the world right now. Keen Gaming has been consistently placing 1-5 places at all the Majors and Minors  in 2019. Although Team Liquid had underwent a slight decline period, Kuroky and company can always do wonders. In the light of recent shady drama in TEAM TEAM roster, they have four days left to set a new roster.  The opening matches held on May 4th: Virtus pro vs Team Team and Keen Gaming vs Liquid.

Group B

Group B also includes the following teams:

  • Team Secret
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Team Empire
  • Chaos Esports Club

Team Secret made it through the MDL Disneyland® Qualifier taking down OG, TFT, and reigning Croatia Minor Champions, NIP. Let’s not forget that they also won The Chongqing Major. With that being said, Puppey and Team Secret are definitely the favorite in the MDL Disneyland Group B race. Who needs Major Qualifier when you can easily bulldoze through the Minor grabbing some DSP points as a bonus? Having won the OGA Minor, Ninjas and Pyjamas can easily give everyone a run for their money in this upcoming event. Team Empire managed to make it through the CIS Qualifier. They are young and thirsty for victories. Being the underdogs, they have a good chances to finish at the top. The same can be said about relatively fresh Chaos Esports Club. They placed 9-12 places at the two recent majors. Nevertheless, with highly-experienced Misery in charge, they can definitely take down any tier 1 team right now.

Group C

Two Chinese titans, Vici Gaming and PSG.LGD, share the Group with relatively young and fresh teams, PaiN Gaming and Mineski. Vici Gaming needs no introduction. They took 1st place at DreamLeague and 1st place at Starladder Minor. It’s only PSG.LGD who can challenge them in the Group. There’s not that much to say about Mineski and PaiN Gaming. PaiN Gaming made it through the SA MDL Disneyland Qualifier and Mineski placed 2nd place at ESL One Mumbai 2019. Thus, only time will tell how they will compete at MDL Disneyland®. Opening matches are: Vici Gaming vs PaIn, PSG.LGD vs Mski.

Group D

The last group consists of Evil Geniuses, Fnatic, compLexity Gaming, and OG. This  particular Group is full of surprises. We all know OG phenomenon, Notail’s, unparalleled EG team play, Fnatic’s talented players, and iceiceice tremendous hero pool. Moreover, all the teams are known for their aggressive and unique play style. So, in the opening matches we will see Evil Geniuses facing off compLexity and Fnatic vs OG.

Take a deep breath before the plunge because MDL Disneyland Paris Major is coming soon.
