Double Dragon Backpack School Bag Movie Promo
Game Life has featured so many incredible items over the years. Countless rarities, exclusive products, limited editions, one-of-a-kind items. But the type of items that excite us here at Game Life are the promo items simply because they are unique and were used to get the attention of consumers. Most are generally mass-produced, but items from the 90’s seem to be hard to locate. This Double Dragon Backpack is no exception.
Nintendo Ancient Artifact?
So what exactly is this promo item that has surfaced? Why would someone care about an old school bag (link here)?
Out of all the titles that have come out during the NES ERA, Double Dragon seems to make the list of top 50 games, even Top 10 for many like myself. It’s one of those games that brought a new concept to gaming; the 2D beat ’em up scroller.
Double Dragon (ダブルドラゴン Daburu Doragon) is a beat ’em up video game series initially developed by Technōs Japan and released as an arcade game in 1987. The series stars twin martial artists, Billy and Jimmy Lee, as they fight against various adversaries and rivals.
The popularity of the game on the NES gave birth to other versions on different consoles of it’e era such as the handhelds Game Boy and Game Gear.
Double Dragon even made it’s way on Nintendo’s competitor console, the Sega Genesis.
The series would continue to new generational consoles like the Super Nintendo, PlayStation and so forth. One of the more successful franchises from early gaming.
What’s the point?
So what’s the point in explaining this all? Double Dragon has a long history, and to find an item that was made during the release of the very first game is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s incredibly rare.
Although this school bag isn’t directly related to the release of the first video game, it was used to promote the Double Dragon movie that came out based on the success of the video games.
There’s definitely mixed reviews about the movie but we’re not here to argue either side. One thing is for sure, if you had this school bag back in the 90’s, you were definitely one of the cooler kids on the block.
