- Epic Games stopped releasing Fortnite Patch notes for some time now, and the Fortnite community has taken Notice. Here’s why they’ve stopped.
Fortnite had a horrible Season 10. It was a season that was extremely problematic for Epic Games Fortnite developers. The reason was simple, for everything Epic Games added into the game there was an uproar from the community. The Fortnite Community on Reddit is great for idea sharing and concepts etc. But sometimes the amount of pressure that they put on Epic is insane. After all, Epic Games developed this game in a certain way and it became successful like that. However recently Fortnite is losing players for sure. We feel this and Epic Games is feeling this.
The game finished a 2-year cycle. This is not long for a multiplayer game after all. There are many games out there well above even 10 years. However, most of the community wanted to try something new. This was also a reaction to Fortnite not releasing a new map. On the other hand, their competitors PUBG and Apex Legends did release new maps. Also, these maps were successful. So successful that Apex Legends new map World’s Edge saved the game. Currently, Apex Legends is on the rise while Fortnite is shrinking down. On top, this Epic Games is not releasing patch notes anymore.
This was a very interesting thing at first. After all we all expected patch notes after every update and since Epic Games communicated with the players so often we took it for granted. But the patch notes also created some problems. if players did not like even a single line in the patch notes there will be a rant and rage for days on social media. This might be one of the reasons why Epic Games stopped releasing patch notes.
Also it kind of pushes players to explore what is going on. This can create some positives in that regard. For example games like Rainbow Six Siege releases patch notes but some of the changes are not mentioned. These unmentioned changes seem to be very important. There are thousands of videos on a game that explains the damage mechanics, etc. Maybe Epic Games is trying to push the game into a more mysterious direction. Also, they can be developing a plot and fed up with the leakers. Whatever they are doing is working because players needed to test the harpoon gun to understand how it works.
