Tomorrow is the Fortnite World Cup, and Epic Games is trying to protect the game meta. Here is what Epic Games plans on doing before the major event.
Storm Scout Sniper Rifle Will Be Disabled at Fortnite World Cup
The biggest Fortnite event will be happening tomorrow, and players from all over the world prepared for this moment. Epic Games always enjoys putting new items into the game, because new items equal to happy users and this is the company’s main goal. Therefore, Fortnite is extremely flexible and ever-changing. However, this is not suitable for the esports Arena. Esports players want stability in their game and the reason is simple; they prepare for a meta for months and even with a small update, the game meta can change drastically. Adding or removing anything from an esports game changes the dynamics of the battlefield completely. The end goal is to keep things fair and have a truly competitive tournament with no distractions.
This is what happened with the introduction of Infinity Blade and Planes into the game. The Infinity Blade was introduced to the game in the middle of Winter Royale 18. Therefore, before pro players are able to practice with it or against it. The game shifted to something else. We have even seen one of the players who took the Blade and throw it outside of the map.
Therefor,e Epic Games is trying to prepare much better than the last fiasco. They will diable the latest item; Storm Scout Sniper Rifle. This is understandable. The Storm Scout Sniper Rifle is giving the advantage of seeing where the next circle is going to be. Which is a huge deal even in a casual match. It will be disabled for the Fortnite World Cup Finals, and this is a great decision coming from Epic.
However, if Epic Games wants to have a stable esports performance they need to slow down their item updates. There are many weapons and items available in Fortnite right now, and also there are the vaulted ones. This keeps the game interesting for sure but also it breaks the meta. Therefore, what Fortnite Esports needs stability. We will see how everything plays out at the Fortnite World Cup.
