Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Promo Statue Holiday Mall Tour 2011

Here’s something that you don’t see everyday. A Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Promo Statue from the Holiday Mall Tour in 2011.

When I stumbled upon this auction I thought it was a custom-made sword/display (mind you, I’m not an avid Zelda collector). I also noticed that the seller is asking $4000.00 for this Sword display so I decided to dig deeper.

It turns out that this is an official Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Promo Statue that was used for the “Holiday Mall Tour” in 2011. You probably didn’t notice it (or you did!), but when you were at the mall and saw that huge Skyward booth, the Sword was located on the side, probably to draw in more people.

Now that I think about it, I kind of do remember seeing this sword now. But I probably thought that it was just some random Sword display created by one of the mall employees for extra traction (as if any LOZ game needs it LOL).

If you check out this picture from 2011, it might ring a few bells for you:

Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword Promo Promotional Statue 2011 Mall Display 1 OF 10 NintendoClear proof that this was an actual display for the promotion of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword promo.

In all honesty, if you ever wanted to have a bada** collectible then I couldn’t think of anything more connected to a game than something that was displayed during it’s launch, and was “exclusive” and “time sensitive”.

This is an awesome piece and part of LOZ history. It was an actual prop for the freaking promotion of the game!

On top of it all, supposedly only 10 of these were made. I am guessing it was to allocate the Skyward booth across the country.

There’s another specialty Legend of Zelda blog that gives more detail about the Skyward Sword display (click here).

What’s amazing about that blog is that the owner of the site has a huge LOZ collection and actually owns one of the Skyward Holiday Promotional Swords from 2011.

What’s even crazier is that the owner documented their trip in picking up the sword! Check out the video below:

Now I can’t think of anything more hardcore than documenting a collectible that you’re going to pick-up lol.

But I would do that also if it was as rare as this Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword promo, especially if it was my favorite game.

Here’s a picture of the sword in the collection:

Going back to the source of the item, the seller says they found this item on craiglists. Don’t we all wish we could find something of this ca;libur on craigslist?

The sellers exact words:

I acquired this statue while serving in the Air Force at Luke Air Force Base, AZ. The statue was listed on craigslist by a truck driver who was told to dispose of it after Nintendo’s mall display campaign was over. I have never seen another one surface online and only recently stumbled upon some great information about the statue (see the link above).

There were only 10 of these statues made, and several may have been destroyed not long after being produced. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this relic to your Zelda collection!

Statue stands around 5 feet tall from base to top of sword. Very dense – weighs 30-40 lbs total.

And that’s how collectibles become more rare, when people dispose of beautiful items like this without a care in the world (non-gamers). I’m very happy to see that a random truck driver was able to go in and save the day lol.

The seller is asking $4000.00 or best offer. I don’t see any offers on the piece yet but I do see 57 watchers. Odd to see that as normally you get a lot of low ball attempts for something of this caliber.

If you’re a LOZ fan and hardcore collector, I can’t imagine your gameroom without this. If you’re really interested in the item then message the seller. Maybe you can work something out with them.
