Circle K and Vancouver Titans Collaborate To Bring Esports To The Mainstream Market
The Canadian esports scene continues to grow as Circle K, a convenience store chain, partnered with the Vancouver Titans to bring greater esports awareness in the Canadian market. This will be a first in Canada that a major retailer will partner with an esports organization in order to bring esports awareness to the Canadian market. Earlier this year, British Columbia saw it’s first esports stadium built in Richmond called The Gaming Stadium. Together with this major announcement, Canada is making its mark in the esports world.
Dave Greason, who is the Director of Merchandising and Marketing for Circle K in Western Canada had this to say about the recent partnership:
“Circle K is very excited to be involved in the esports industry and to partner with the Titans. Our stores are a great option for gamers. We are open late and have all the snacks and beverages they need. In a way, this harkens back to the 80’s, when your local convenience store had an arcade machine in it and the store became the epicenter of social lives for local young people. Video games have all grown up now, into the multi-billion dollar industry it is today. It’s exciting for us to be a part of that and reach digital consumers in new and engaging ways.”
Additionally, the head of Partnerships for the Vancouver Titans, Gopal Patel, said,
“We are very excited to partner with Circle K and, together, build a meaningful relationship with the gaming community in Western Canada. Through this partnership we will be giving this young, highly engaged fan base access to the Vancouver Titans with fun in-market promotions, and unique content with our players.”
The Overwatch League recently partnered with Upper Deck to bring official esports trading cards to the collectible market. Additionally, the 2nd season of Overwatch reached over 13 million people in its opening week, which was a 30% increase from its previous week.
