- One of the biggest gaming companies in the industry is changing their store for the better. The Epic Games Store just had a nice revamp to give users a better experience. Here are the details.
Epic Games Store is Changing For The Better
Last year we saw something interesting. A solid competitor for Steam emerged. Epic Games decided to make their own store with their own perks. This was an interesting move. Most of us, myself included, did not see this happening. I mean, Steam is incredibly massive and no one could come close to what they have built. And to be honest, we were right until now. Steam still has the biggest market share. This was an interesting thing because no company would try to do what they did. However, things are changing. EA has Origin as their client and Ubisoft, even though they have their own client, started a subscription-based survive called UPlay+.
The gaming community is tough to convince. Epic Games Store got bashed for a long time. People even created charts to compare both of them and highlighting the main differences. However, there was one thing different between the two companies; Epic and Steam. Epic Games Store has been giving free games for some time now. This was seen even as a bribe by some players at first. But after some time, Epic Games Store continued to give free games, and the platform has become much more appealing suddenly. Also, the most hated thing that they did was making PC games exclusive to their stores by making a deal with the Game developers.
However, the last sales figures for Borderlands 3 is phenomenal. The game sold a lot of copies. Also, it was exclusive to the Epic Games Store. This means that Epic Games Store is shifting gears and they are getting much more recognition. Also, they have decided to change their features.
Maybe the most interesting change is the Patch Size.
Apparently your patches will optimize the download size according to your download speed which is a great feature for players with a bad internet connection.
Also, they are making changes to their Store FrontPage. Which is also great because it did not look that great before.
Epic Games Store will not be able to dethrone Steam any time soon. However, they are definitely improving in this field, and more users will be attracted to their new layout and offerings.
