One of the Rarest Video Games of All Time
So what is one of the rarest video games of all time? I bet you never heard of it.
The auction JUST opened up for it and the opening bid is US $2,175.00 with 9 days and 15 hours left (there’s 17 bids already).
I bet you never even heard of the console it’s on.
What if I gave you three guesses to try and name it, would you? Probably not because you’d be naming some of the more mainstream ones like Stadium Events.
This isn’t a game on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
One of the rarest video games of all time is called Ultima Escape from MT. Drash which you can bid now on it.
What makes this auction incredibly facinating is that this is for a “BRAND NEW SEALDED” game. So you take one of the rarest video games of all time and add the title “SEALED” to it make’s it ultra rare.
I guess that explains the opening bid.
Here’s the actual description from the auction:
Ultima – Escape from MT. Drash, Commodore VIC 20 Cassette (SierraAdventure)
New in Factory Sealed Box
You have been imprisoned by the Garrintrots in the mountain stronghold of Mount Drash. There are 15 levels of tunnels within the mountain, and you must find the exit in each one to escape. Some levels have gems which must be collected before you are allowed to leave. Along the way you will encounter a variety of enemy creatures which will need to be defeated in combat. Only released for the VIC-20, it is a simple maze game with some monster battles, and very little connection to the other games in the series.
Please see the photos for additional product information and the condition of the box.
The Box is in Pretty Good Condition with some shelf / storage wear. There is some edge on the box along with some scuffing and light marring on the front and the back of the box. There are some other small scuffs and nicks here and there on the box, mainly on the corners and edges. The hanging tab on the back of the box appears to be somewhat fragile and it has some bend marks and creases on it.
Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail.
The game came out in 1983 when everyone was playing games predominantly on computers. You can find out more about this game here. It’s really a historic piece due to how rare it is. Want to go back in the past with us? We wrote about this game 7 years ago which you can read here. Just goes to show you how often this game pops up for sale when we haven’t made too many articles for it.
I believe a few more have popped up for sale since, but it’s one of the rarest games of all time and now there’s a chance for someone to own a sealed version of it. I’m shocked it isn’t VGA Graded.
