- On August 13th, Overwatch received a massive patch that brought some cool new features, fixed some major bugs, and both nerfed and buffed heroes.
Overwatch Patch: 22.214.171.124 Implications
The new Overwatch patch was recently released. Besides the implementation of Role Queue and the new hero Sigma into main, there were some major bugs fixed. Not only were general bugs fixed, but some much needed bug fixes in maps and heroes as well.
Here’s a video of the new hero, Sigma, in action:
-Fixed a bug that caused charging heroes to inconsistently knock each other down when colliding
-Fixed a bug that caused the Presets UI in Custom Game to be displayed in the wrong order
-Fixed a bug so that placement previews will now hold their position after clicking until they’ve been confirmed by the server
-Fixed a bug that allowed attackers to leave the spawn room before the round starts
Ashe, Doomfist, D.Va, Lúcio, Orisa, Reinhardt, Wrecking Ball, Zarya, and Zenyatta had some major bug fixes. However, Doomfist was the one who’s bug repair list was the longest which included:
-Fixed an issue that enables Doomfist to get through doorways while using Rocket Punch and clipping the corner
-Fixed a bug that prevented Rocket Punch from consistently destroying Sombra’s Translocator and not being stopped by it, similar to Symmetra’s turrets
-Fixed an issue so that targets hit by Rocket Punch will now go directly backwards, instead of maintaining any lateral momentum they had
-Fixed an issue so that targets that are immune to stun but not immune to knockback are no longer able to affect knockback trajectory
-Fixed a bug that caused Doomfist to move more slowly for the duration of Meteor Strike when using it while crouched
-Fixed a bug that caused Doomfist to move backwards slightly slower during Meteor Strike

Besides some much-needed bug fixes, there were both general and hero updates. From Endorsements too the Workshop, Overwatch is almost like an entirely new game.
-Players can now endorse each other in the following game modes:
Mystery Heroes, No Limits, Deathmatch, Total Mayhem, Low Grav All PvE Event game modes.
-Mystery Heroes: On Control maps, heroes are now reset between rounds.
Player Dealt Healing, Player Received Healing, Player Joined Match, Player Left Match
Start Transforming Throttle, Stop Transforming Throttle
Healer, Healee, Event Healing, Host Player
Hero Abilities Updates
Ashe, Brigitte, D.Va, Doomfist, Hanzo, Orisa, Reinhardt, Sombra, Symmetra, Tracer, and Wrecking Ball all received some major updates to their abilities. However, Brigitee has had not only the most changes done this patch but the most game-changing update. All of Brigitee’s abilities were tweaked, excluding her Rocket Flail.
-Healing amount increased from 100 to 130
-Self-healing from Inspire is now halved
-Now has 3 charges
-Healing amount changed from 150 to 120
-Now heals over 2 seconds instead of instantly
If you throw multiple packs at the same person, the current duration will be extended by 2 seconds
-Out-going velocity increased from 60 to 80
-Retracting time reduced from 0.6 seconds to 0.3
-Barrier health reduced from 500 to 200
-Stun duration reduced from 0.9 seconds to 0.75
-Ultimate cost increased by 10%
The reason for these massive changes seemingly is to change team composition when using Brigitee.
“This change is just meant to counteract the global increase in ultimate cost. The time it takes to generate a D.Va’s ultimate when out of her mech should remain the same as it was before this update.” -Developer Comment
One of the major bugs to come out of this update too Brigitee has to do with sound. Players like Reddit user TehElusivePanda have discovered that “Brig’s armor packs don’t make a sound if you’re getting healed/receiving one from her”.
Besides this strange audio glitch specific to Brigitee, some players have reported not hearing any sound at all after being eliminated. The following was taken from TehElusivePanda’s post on r/Overwatch titled “Brig’s armor packs don’t make a sound if you’re getting healed/receiving one from her”:
“As far as the audio goes, I also had an instance last night where I lost all game audio (except voice comms) after I died, only regained it when I died once again.” -u/sufijo
For the most part, the theses changes, especially those to Brigitee, have been welcomed by the community. Some players like Reddit user yukichigai have gone so far as to compose a full review of these changes.
The following was taken from yukichigai’s post on r/Overwatch titled “After playing new Brig a bit, some thoughts from a Brig main (not all bad!)”:
“I’ll freely admit I was really, really pessimistic for how Brig would fare after her rework was revealed. I didn’t think the idea behind the rework was bad, but it really sounded like she was getting hit with the nerf bat hard on top of that. General impression: the rework was good overall, but she has been overnerfed a little. […] [S]he’s too vulnerable right now, but some minor tweaks could fix that pretty easily. Adjust a few numbers, maybe play with some abilities, and I think Brig will be in a much better and much more useful place. Still, there are some things which are just bad and need to be fixed. […] She is very dependent on teammates when she wades into combat, but her rework means she can keep those teammates up a lot easier.”

Whether these changes will have a negative impact on the game or not is yet to be determined. But expect for the more “serious” of players to have some comments if you chose to play Brigitee.
