SNAP Video Game Platform ? Mobile Gaming Gets A Boost
SNAP Inc. will be adding a video game platform to it’s mobile chat app and build on it’s reach and offering. If you would have asked me that there will be a SNAP Video Game Platform in 2018 I would say you’ve gone crazy. With the controversial app going through many lows over the months this is about as good as it gets for the chat app.
SNAP Inc. Stock Increases
Snapchat’s stock rose to a high today at $13.54 US when news broke out only to fall back down to $12.89 at close. The stock was up 1.1% Wednesday around 10:18 am Eastern Time. News broke stating that SNAP Inc. is prepping it’s app to allow developers to make games for the chat app and rumor has it that one big publisher is ready to start pumping the controversial app very soon.
What about AR?
Snapchat has augmented reality for it’s games right now which is called Snappables. It allows Snap users to do facial gestures such as raising their eyebrows in a certain amount of time with animation going on screen and then challenging their snap friends to beat their score. Although the games are the first of it’s kind with mobile augmented reality games, I have had quite a bit of fun playing them on my mobile phone and I was a bold critique about this feature from Snapchat.
What’s in Store for the SNAP Game Platform?
There are many scenarios I can come up with at the moment. Given that Snapchat is predominantly an app for millennials I am sure there a lot of big time publishers looking to jump on the SNAP Video Game Platform. The one publisher that comes to mind would be CAPCOM as they’ve produced many games across a variety of different platforms from Nintendo, Microsoft’s XBOX and Sony’s PlayStation. I am sure given the line up of CAPCOM franchises out there that are rated “E” for everyone, SNAP will definitely be looking to put their SNAP game platform to use with publishers who can make games predominantly for millennials.
That is my guess but really any publisher can be placed on SNAP’s game platform. With CAPCOM it makes so much sense. You already have the Mega Man games, Monster Hunter, Puzzle Fighter and many more. Imagine an exclusive Mega Man game on Snapchat where there’s a boss called “SNAP MAN”? I’d imagine Snap Man looking like a mobile phone spitting out ghosts!
