Sonic the Hedgehog Giant 7 Foot Store Display Statue Figure
Here’s something you don’t see every day. A Sonic the Hedgehog Giant 7 Foot Store Display Statue from the early 90’s (link here). Game Life featured a Super Mario 7 Foot Store Display Statue a while back as select retail stores would have both Mario and Sonic displayed in the window front.
What ended up happening is after the NES started to slow down in sales (because of it’s SNES predecessor) retail stores would shoot these displays out because they took a lot of room. Some employees would call shots on the displays and take either Sonic or Mario home (who remembers the Giant Sonic the Hedgehog Display in the kitchen?)

Here’s your chance to get one of the holy grails of the “life size” statues. This Sonic was usually found hanging at Best Buy’s back in the day. Due to their size and weight most didn’t survive. There’s only a handful known to exist in private collections and those collectors aren’t willing to sell so here’s your chance! The display is in great condition overall for its age. Yes it has some minor wear and scuffs/scratches. The yellowing is normal age ware just as it should be. Enjoy this amazing piece! I know I have! Please take a look at all the photos! If you need or want more let me know and I can take more. What you see is what you get! No returns or refunds! Please note, first photo was taken without a flash. The rest were taken with flash so scuffs and scratches appear more detailed in the photos.Due to size of the item I prefer local pickup. If local pickup is not possible buyer can arrange and pay for shipping of the item. Safest way would probably be through USHIP
I would definitely agree that this is the holy grail of Sonic displays merely due to the height of it and that very few survived. I do remember Sonic and Mario going for $1000 years ago. The price has appreciated in time but I don’t know many collectors who would dish out $5000 (asking price) for a display that literally takes up half of your room.
Unless your garage was transformed into a game room, chances are you’ll be that gamer with the statue stuck in their kitchen.
Seller is located in Carrollton, Texas. Something like this definitely needs to be picked up. It is possible to ship via UPS or FedEx, but they’ll charge an arm and a leg. Don’t even bother buying this from out of the country. I can imagine the shipping being close to $2000 and that’s not including duty tax.
Seller has setup a “best-offer” option so if this was something you were waiting for then there’s a chance the seller can be leniant with their asking price.
